This company is well known and based in Texas, is ATP Oil & Gas Corporation (NASDAQ: ATPG) is an offshore oil and gas development and production company operating in the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea. The primary objectives of the company are to develop already-discovered reserves not strategic to major or exploration-oriented oil and gas companies and to achieve a high rate of return for ATP from such low-risk developmental projects. ATP operates exclusively offshore and has addressed projects in Gulf of Mexico water depths from 12 feet in the Eugene Island Area to deepwater 1350 feet of water in Garden Banks; in the North Sea projects range from 50 to 200 feet of water depth. ATP has been frequently recognized for pushing existing technology to a higher level and is a leader of companies utilizing subsea technology and performing its operations in an environmentally sound manner. At December 2002, ATP had leasehold and other interests in 50 offshore blocks, 29 platforms and 70 wells, including six subsea wells, in the federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Well known in Colorado and doing business in California – Aspen Exploration Corporation (OTCBB: ASPN) engages in the exploration and development of oil and gas properties in California. It sells crude oil and natural gas to various companies, including pipeline companies.
Well known in Utah and doing business in the great state – Avalon Gold Corporation (OTCBB: AVLN) has an undivided 85% working interest in the Shotgun Draw Prospect in the prolific natural gas producing Uinta Basin , located in the US Rockies, Utah . The lease comprises 13,189 acres with a potential 4 TCF recoverable gas and is overpressured by a 0.55 – 0.85 gradient. The Drunkards Wash Field, just south of the prospect area is estimated to be between 2-4 TCF of recoverable gas. The Jonah Field Overpressured Gas Plain, which is analogous to our prospect area, has similar overpressuring, depth, reservoir rocks and is estimated to be 2.5+ TCF.
With a name like Bayou, you know you’ll find them in Louisiana – Bayou City Exploration, Inc. (OTCBB: BYCX) engages in the drilling, exploration, development, and production of oil and gas properties in Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia. As of December 31, 2005, the company has participated, either directly or indirectly through its sponsored limited partnerships, in 109 wells. As of the above date, it had proved and developed reserves of 6,532 barrels of oil and 83,390 thousand cubic feet of natural gas. Bayou City Exploration was founded as Gem Source, Incorporated in 1994 and changed its name to Blue Ridge Energy, Inc. in 1996. Further, it changed its name to Bayou City Exploration, Inc. in 2005.
Come on now, with a name like cherry Berry, you know you’ll find them doing business on the west coast – Berry Petroleum Company (NYSE: BRY) engages in the production, development, acquisition, exploitation, and exploration of crude oil and natural gas in the United States. Its principal reserves and producing properties are located in California, Utah, and Colorado. The company owns and operates working interests in 38 properties located in the Midway-Sunset field; the McVan property, which consists of 560 acres in the Poso Creek field; 9 leases and 4 fee properties totaling approximately 965 acres in the Placerita field; and working interest in 6 leases totaling 8,563 acres in the Montalvo field in California. In addition, the company owns working interest in 3 acreage blocks in Big Wash Unit, Utah; and 50% in 186,000 gross acres located in the Williston Basin in North Dakota. As of December 31, 2005, its estimated proved reserves were 126 million barrels of oil equivalent. The company markets its crude oil to independent marketers and oil refining companies.
